Gutterboat Building Workshop
5543 34th Ave NE
A fun and easy project for kids of all ages. Young children are welcome. Carving assistance will be available. An adult must be present with children under 10 years.
What to Bring to the Workshop
If you have the following, please bring small carving or craft tools, sandpaper and x-acto knives. Nail polish is used to decorate the gutterboats.
What We Will Supply
Balsa gutterboat blanks, instructions, and some limited paint colors.
What if I Can’t Make the Workshop
If you are unable to come to the workshop, you may also make one on your own and bring it. Contact Amanda to see if she has any extra blanks you can pick up and shape and paint on your own.
Make sure your boats have enough space to hold a small dot ID sticker.

Pinewood Derby Building Workshop

A more challenging project but just as fun! All ages are welcome, though expect to be hands-on with your children. Carving assistance will be available. An adult must be present with children under 10 years.
What to Bring to the Workshop
We will not be providing weights to attach to your car. If you'd like to attach these during the workshop, please bring your own non-lead weights.
What We Will Supply
Pinewood Derby kits, tools, paints, and a scale to check the specs of your car.

July 3
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Street Clean-up and decoration
33rd Ave NE between 55th & 57th
- All cars need to be removed from the 5500 block of 33rd Ave NE
- Cars on the 5700 block should be moved as well to make space for the morning parade.
- Sweepers are needed! BYOBroom :)
- Limber volunteers to climb ladders and the occassional tree to string the banners over the street.
July 4

Potluck Breakfast Setup
Bring your breakfast to the tables positioned in the middle of the 5500 block before the parade.
9:00 AM – 9:15 AM
Parade Lineup
33rd Ave NE at 60th, between the church and Bryant Elementary
The parade is led by Engine 38 from the local fire station. They will proceed two blocks south to the decomissioned station at 55th, which was Engine 38's original home.
Children are encouraged to decorate + ride their bikes or scooters.

Pinewood Derby
After a multi-year hiatus, Pinewood Derby is back! Come build a car at our Build Workshop on 6/30 or use your own car from past years. Awards will be given for Fastest Car and for Best Design. We can't wait to see what kind of cars you kids (and kids at heart) dream up!
Note: Pinewood Derby is going lead free this year! Non-lead weights will be provided at the Build Workshop.

Lunch
Nothing says summer like grilling! Hot Dogs + Chips + Cold Drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring side dishes to share!

Relay Races
Our Relay Races change each year and are always SO fun. Come see what Relay Race chair, Ron Taylor, has up his sleeve this year! This activiity is best suited for elementary school aged kids and above.

Gutterboat Regatta & Popsicles
Our annual Gutterboat Regatta is always a crowd favorite! Design your tiny balsa wood boat at our Build Workshop on 6/30 and then race your neighbors!
3:00 PM – 3:15 PM
Watermelon-Eating Contest
How fast can you eat a giant wedge of watermelon? No hands allowed! There will be two heats: one for grown-ups and one for kids. Rumor has is there are some snazzy new trophies for the winners this year!
3:15 PM – 3:30 PM
Water Balloon Toss
We'll end the day with our annual Water Balloon Toss! Everyone is welcome to participate - kids and grownups alike.
